Made with laser-cut sheet aluminum and various fasteners
In 2024, I created and led a project called sixty sixty one for Infinite Magazine, where we created garments, accessories, and sculptural objects using laser-cut, bent, and fastened sheet metal. The name is an allusion to the alloy of aluminum we used. Besides designing two pieces, a headpiece and corset, I also created the visual layout of the final magazine pages and oversaw general creative direction.
The first piece I created was this corset inspired by insect carapaces. This piece actually consists of three separate pieces of metal, bolted and riveted together to form a smooth torso-hugging surface. Modeled by Bukunmi Shodipo and shot by Michelle Xiang:

Next, I was inspired by the aesthetics of butterfly wings and motorcycle helmets to make this headpiece. Modeled by Sabine Chu and shot by Michelle Xiang:
Below are the final 16 pages of the magazine! I designed these using a combination of Adobe Suite, Procreate, and Blender. Featuring (besides the contributions above) pieces by Fernando Valenzuela, Teresa Jiang, Lee Liu, and Lindsay Reyes; modeling and styling by Anna Chan; and writing by Sabine Chu.
